2021 our bespoke

Pride bench and flags

Due to the pandemic we were again unable to hold a festival in 2021. We marked June, Pride Month, by flying 17 bespoke LGBT+ flags across the town and unveiling a permanent piece of artwork in the Manor Gardens. We would like to thank the  Town Council Arts Manager, Exmouth Town Council and the National Lottery who made both of these projects possible.

Flag Design

Flag

Our flag is designed by us in partnership with Vibrant Pulse (now Daneswood).

It includes our logo with the colours of the 6 striped Pride flag. We wanted to make it clear that we represent the full LGBT community with the + symbol representing other minority orientation/gender identities and colours chosen to show inclusiveness people of colour.

The flags will fly every June at flag poles in the Manor Gardens, Town Hall, locations along the seafront and more.

Funding has come from the National Lottery Community Fund.

Pride Bench

Pride-Bench

Our amazingly colourful Pride bench was installed in the Manor Gardens on 19th June 2021 when we would have held our 6th Pride event.

“It features the 1979 Pride flag colours in a splash of celebration to mark how far we have got with equality and a rainbow seat, which is a universal symbol of hope, to symbolise hope for a better futire for LGBT+ people in this country and globally.

We hope that people will enjoy this fantastic addition to the town in the spirit in which it was created. Let’s sit, think and talk about difference and acceptance, being true to ourselves and living our best lives.

The bench, designed and built by blacksmith Matt Coe of Dingle Design, Crediton. The project led by Exmouth Pride in conjunction with Exmouth Town Council and with support from East Devon Green Spaces and the National Lottery’s Community Fund.
