LGBT History Month

2024

Section 28 interactive display throughout February

Our Film evening viewing of Bros om 2nd Feb was in partnership with Exmouth Library, where we opened the exhibition “Section 28 and its Afterlives”. This covers the 1988 government legislation that sought to trample on the lives of LGBT+ people. It was only finally repealed in 2003.
This is a live exhibition – and the organisers from Exeter University’s history department would be glad to add more voices of people’s experiences of Section 28 and the impact it had on their lives.

2023

Thank you to Exmouth Library for hosting an evening of short international LGBT+ films

2022

On the theme of Body, Mind and Spirit, we have partnered with several local inclusive groups to encourage LGBT+ participation. This included a meditation session with the Quakers at Open Door, swimming and Yoga at LED, a book display/film evening at the library and joining in Exmouth’s ParkRun.

2021

Our LGBT+ History Trail is up in Exmouth Town for the month of April. LGBT+ visibility is an essential aspect of the Pride movement and we hope that some of the individuals and quotes that we have selected are informative and thought provoking. The quiz was hosted by Arina Fox and won by David Turner of WSM.

Use this map to locate the 21 posters.

2020
